When I have free time I help non-profit organizations with online presence. My help includes creating online strategies, online marketing researches and designing and creating web-sites.
My last project is a great non-profit organization which offers housing service for people in Hawaii.
The Gregory House web-site was obviously outdated. It doesn’t solve the main goals of the web-site.
I managed several interviews with a key stakeholder to identify the main problems of the current web-site.
- Difficult to update static content (pages).
- There was no option to create dynamic content such as blog posts or news.
- There was no clear way for contributors to make a donation.
Before creating a new design I tried to understand main goals for this web-site. To do this it was important to understand users. There are two types of users here: people who need a housing service and people who want to help them and to make a donation. I identified three main goals for this web-site:
- Provide information for contributors;
- Provide information for people who need housing services;
- Inform both parties about events and activities.
I decided to create a new web-site on self-hosted WordPress CMS. After several interview with CEO I built page structure for the new web-site.
One of existed problems was outdated design. I created new logo, icons and color scheme.
Two main buttons on the main page should solve two main objectives: providing information about applying for people who need a housing service and redirecting potential contributors to donation page.
New web-site is 100% responsive and supported on all modern mobile and desktop devices.
